On the day of your course you will start with the Theory Exam.
Once you pass the theory, you go out on the boat and do the Practical Training with our patient, experienced assessors.
The practical assessment consists of all of the elements, encompassing more than just how well you can drive a boat.
Our practical training will show and teach you exactly what you need to do and provide you with the skills needed to pass your Practical Assessment.
If you have an Interstate or Overseas Boating Licence that is accepted by MSQ, you can do a Transfer so you can hold a QLD Captain’s License without having to complete the course.

It is important that you do some training for the practical to be able to pass the assessment. It’s like a car driver’s test, being trained properly will assist you to pass easily. The practical assessment consists of several different elements, encompassing more than just how well you can drive a boat. Our practical training will teach you exactly how to do the manoeuvres for the assessment. It is much the same for the theory, if you do not learn the information that you need to know as a Skipper you will not be able to pass the Theory Assessment. Please make sure you study and revise using the resources that we provide.
